Vol. 543 No. 5

Written Answers. - Gross Current Expenditure.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

259 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance the estimated out turn for gross current expenditure, appropriations-in-aid and capital expenditure in 2001. [27632/01]

The 2001 provision for gross voted current and capital expenditure as published in the Revised Estimates Volume, REV, was £21,545 million, 27,357 million. In the end-September Exchequer returns I indicated that net current voted expenditure in the first nine months was broadly on target but that a shortfall on ESF receipts of the order of £100 million, 127 million, could arise because of timing factors. Net voted capital expenditure is broadly in line with the REV provision. There are pressures arising for additional spending across a number of Votes which I will examine over the coming weeks.
