Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Question:

208 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of staff in his Department who have made job-sharing arrangements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28297/01]

As of 1 November 2001, 316 members of staff in my Department were availing of job sharing. A further 68 members of staff were job sharing in the Irish Prisons Service and 57 members in the Garda.

The Deputy may wish to note that job sharing has been incorporated into a new work sharing scheme providing for a wider range of family friendly and personal choice options as agreed between the Department of Finance and staff side representatives. In this regard, my Department continues to be proactive in the implementation of family friendly schemes.
