Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Swimming Pools Projects.

David Stanton

Question:

222 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation his plans to publish the findings of the interdepartmental working group established to develop guidelines and advise on the operation of a public private partnership approach in relation to swimming pools; when his consideration of the findings of this group will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28122/01]

My Department's consideration of the report of the interdepartmental working group on a public private partnership – PPP – approach to the provision of swimming pools under the local authority swimming pool programme operated by the Department, is nearing completion. This consideration is taking into account recent developments in the area of PPPs, including the agreement of a national PPP policy framework, which sets out principles underlying the PPP process in Ireland and the publication of the State Authorities (Public Private Partnership Arrangements) Bill, 2001, an enabling Bill in relation to the powers of state authorities to enter into PPPs and local authority powers to enter into joint ventures.

Question No. 223 answered with Question No. 78.
