Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

258 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education and Science if resources can be put in place to give special consideration to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24, as recommended by her psychologist, in the 2002 leaving certificate examinations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28161/01]

My Department operates a scheme of reasonable accommodations for candidates with special needs at the certificate examinations. Applications for reasonable accommodations are submitted by the authorities of the school which the candidate is attending. My Department has been in contact with the authorities of the school concerned who have indicated than an application for reasonable accommodations on behalf of the person concerned will be submitted shortly. My Department will be happy to process this application and respond to the school at the completion of the process.
