Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

267 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make the necessary funding available to develop facilities at a school (details supplied) in County Cork; the position regarding the application for these facilities. [28203/01]

The school to which the Deputy refers is one of three post-primary schools serving the needs of the area in question, two voluntary secondary schools and a vocational school under the aegis of the County Cork VEC. An application for grant aid to develop facilities at the school in question is being examined in the planning section of my Department. As part of this process, all relevant factors, including enrolment and demographic trends in the area, will be taken into consideration. A decision on the matter will be notified to the school authorities as soon as possible.
