Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Liam Aylward

Question:

154 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will approve an application for the purchase of an additional milk quota by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [28141/01]

The quota in question is owned by a person who has not delivered milk during the last three milk quota years. However, my Department has granted that person an exemption, under the provisions of Regulation 27 of the European Communities (Milk Quota) Regulations, 2000, which enables him to temporary lease the entire of his quota to his co-operative for the current quota year. It is not possible, under the provisions of the 2000 regulations, for that person to sell his all or part of his quota to his first cousin.
