My Department has not incurred expenditure on television advertising to date in 2001.
166 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the expenditure by the Revenue Commissioners on their advertising campaign concerning offshore accounts; if he will set out this expenditure on a monthly basis; the expenditure as per print and broadcast media; and the number of taxpayers who have to date come forward to make voluntary declarations. The Deputy will be aware that the Revenue Commissioners have special arrangements in place for voluntary disclosure of underlying tax on bogus non-resident accounts – which must be complied with by tomorrow, 15 November 2001. The commissioners have informed me that shortly after that date they will be issuing a comprehensive statement covering all the aspects mentioned by the Deputy. In the circumstances, it would seem best to wait a few days for such comprehensive details.
