Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Advertising Expenditure.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

165 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Finance the total expenditure for his Department for television advertising to date in 2001; and the percentage of expenditure allocated to Irish established broadcasters regulated here compared to that allocated to non-Irish established broadcasters. [28178/01]

My Department has not incurred expenditure on television advertising to date in 2001.

Paul McGrath

Question:

166 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the expenditure by the Revenue Commissioners on their advertising campaign concerning offshore accounts; if he will set out this expenditure on a monthly basis; the expenditure as per print and broadcast media; and the number of taxpayers who have to date come forward to make voluntary declarations. [28152/01]

The Deputy will be aware that the Revenue Commissioners have special arrangements in place for voluntary disclosure of underlying tax on bogus non-resident accounts – which must be complied with by tomorrow, 15 November 2001. The commissioners have informed me that shortly after that date they will be issuing a comprehensive statement covering all the aspects mentioned by the Deputy. In the circumstances, it would seem best to wait a few days for such comprehensive details.
