Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Replacement of Tonnage.

Michael Ring

Question:

190 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if there is a scheme in place to apply for tonnage to be regained on a vessel (details supplied); the procedure in place in applying for tonnage to be replaced on a vessel; and the reason no reply has been issued to a letter dated August 2000 from a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [28788/01]

The vessel in question is not registered on the current fishing boat register and its capacity – tonnage and engine power – is not therefore eligible for replacement capacity purposes under licensing registration frameworks.

There is no record in my Department of correspondence from the individual concerned in connection with the registration of his vessel.
