Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Stadium and Sports Campus Ireland.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

218 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a costing has been carried out on the 500 acre site at Abbotstown for the proposed Stadium and Sports Campus Ireland; the value of the buildings, including the State laboratories, which will be demolished if the project goes ahead; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28980/01]

The information requested by the Deputy is not available to me at this stage.

In May of this year the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation engaged consultants to provide financial and economic services with technical support to undertake an independent overview of the cost of developing the proposed Stadium and Sports Campus Ireland at a site currently occupied by the State laboratories at Abbotstown and to assess the estimated costs of relocating existing facilities from the Abbotstown site arising directly from the decision to establish Stadium and Sports Campus Ireland. The report of the consultants is being examined by the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation who intends to bring the report and his assessment to Cabinet in the near future. I expect the Government to make a statement on this matter at that stage.
