Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Question:

245 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if beef premium payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim; and the reason for the delay in payment. [29021/01]

The person named submitted two applications in respect of a total of ten animals for special beef premium under the 2001 scheme. The second application was randomly selected for field inspection at which greater than 20% identification and registration non-compliance was found – 12 out of 13 animals in the herd on the day of inspection were not registered and had no passports. The resultant penalty is no premium payable on animals applied on in the 12 months prior to the date of inspection. Consequently, no special beef premium payments are due to this person. The person named has sought a review of the findings at the inspection. He will be notified of the results of the review within the next two weeks.

Question:

246 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his Department will make an area-based payment to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [29022/01]

The 2001 area aid application for the person named has been fully processed and payment due under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue shortly.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

247 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a suckler cow grant payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29029/01]

The person named applied on 13 cows and two heifers under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. One of the cows was disposed of and a heifer was purchased as a replacement. In processing the application for payment it was found that the movement details for the replacement animal were not notified or updated on the cattle movement monitoring system. The person named visited my Department's district livestock office on 19 November 2001 and is aware that payment will issue as soon as this matter is resolved.
