Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

315 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department is providing funding towards the cost of educating special needs children in the Steiner School, County Clare; if such funding is provided by his Department for any special needs children attending the school; the criteria on which funding for such education is provided by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28699/01]

My Department does not provide funding directly to any schools or individuals. Responsibility for the overall provision of health related support services to children with special needs and the level at which such services may be provided in this case rests with the Mid-Western Health Board. I have been informed by the board that it does not provide any funding to the school in question.
