Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

322 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford was forced to endure a nine hour round trip to University College Hospital, Galway for an appointment on 25 July 2001 to be told that the consultant (details supplied) was not there; his views on whether this is an unsatisfactory situation; the way in which such a situation could arise; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28851/01]

Responsibility for the provision of services in this case rests with the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer at the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
