Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

Dick Spring

Question:

327 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the situation which has arisen in the provision of ambulance services in County Kerry whereby ambulance drivers have had to go on call without an assistant being present; his views on the inadequate services provided in Kenmare on 12 October 2001 and in Listowel on 2 November 2001; and if he will intervene with the Southern Health Board to rectify this situation. [28886/01]

Responsibility for the provision of ambulance services in the southern region, which includes County Kerry, rests with the Southern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him.
