352 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if public hospital charges for casualty, out-patient public ward accommodation, semi-private ward accommodation, private ward accommodation or for day care treatment have been changed in making up the Estimates for 2002; and the values in each case which will apply in 2002. [29056/01]

No increase in public hospital charges for casualty and out-patient public ward accommodation was provided for in the Estimates for 2002. Provision has been made for an increase in the charges for private and semi-private accommodation in public hospitals. The impact of this measure will be an average increase of about 15% for such accommodation from 1 January 2002, and in the context of a 15% increase the following values would apply:
