Written Answers. - Road Traffic Accidents.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

376 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the information available to him on the gender and age of persons killed in road traffic accidents in each of the years since 1998, and to date in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29033/01]

The annual reports of the National Roads Authority detailing road accident statistics include details of casualties classified by road user gender and age. The most recent report is in respect of 2000 and that report, along with reports relating to previous years, are available in the Oireachtas Library. The following table outlines the gender and age of persons killed in road traffic accidents from 1998 to 2000. A breakdown of that nature is not yet available in respect of 2001.
