Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Crime Levels.

Paul Bradford

Question:

418 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the incidences of all crimes against women, drug related crimes, homicides and public order offences from 1997 to 2000 in each of the six Garda regions. [28726/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that statistics on a regional basis for public order offences, homicides and drug offences have been published in each of the annual reports of An Garda Síochána from 1997 to 1999. These are available in the Oireachtas Library. The published statistics on homicide, indictable assault and sexual offences record the gender of the victim. The report for 2000 is not yet available.

Question:

419 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department was asked to verify a claimed 25% reduction in crime as advertised recently (details supplied). [28727/01]

I can inform the Deputy that my Department has no record of such a request.
