Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Residency Permits.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

429 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding an application by persons (details supplied) in County Wexford to be entitled to remain here; the position regarding citizenship; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28871/01]

Various non-EEA national members of this family have arrived in Ireland since 1992 and have remained here without permission other than temporary permission granted as visitors upon entry. Despite requests from this office and the local Garda registration office the extended family have failed to supply adequate documentation relating to their purpose of residence here, including details of their various business undertakings, which would enable my Department reach a decision on whether they should be granted permission to remain. If the persons concerned forward documentation relating to the grounds on which they are seeking residency, their case will be fully considered. Financial documentation, including details of property owned, tax returns, company accounts and so on, should be supplied. The persons in question will be expected to respond to requests from my Department for further information and additional documentation in this regard if required. The Department has no record of having received applications for citizenship in respect of the persons referred to.
