Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ground Rents.

Richard Bruton

Question:

437 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has any plans for a public awareness programme in respect of the Government's proposed legislation to abolish ground rents. [28986/01]

As I informed the Deputy on 13 November, the Government's current legislation programme makes provision for a Bill to abolish ground rents. I hope that the details of the new legislation can be announced as early as possible in 2002, subject to the resolution of certain constitutional, technical and practical difficulties that arise. I have no plans for a public awareness programme in connection with the legislation.
