Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

355 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has decided not to fund education in Steiner schools for special needs children; the number of special needs children attending Steiner schools which are being funded by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29895/01]

Steiner schools are not recognised by my Department as they do not satisfy my Department's criteria for recognition. Accordingly, my Department does not have any record of the number of special needs children attending such schools. My Department has not received an application to fund education services in Steiner schools for children with special needs.
