Vol. 545 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

121 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is no social worker available to deal with outpatients of a specialist's team (details supplied) in the Mater Hospital, Dublin; the reasons for this; if his attention has further been drawn to the strain this puts staff and patients under; if he will make arrangements to have a social worker appointed to the team; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30197/01]

Responsibility for the funding of services at the Mater Hospital rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to her.
