Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Question:

116 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children when a medical card will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; the reason there is such a delay in dealing with this application; the reason confirmation of his income by way of a letter from the local tax office is not acceptable to the South-Eastern Health Board as proof of income; and if this application can be expedited. [30257/01]

Responsibility for the issue of medical cards is, by legislation, the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the relevant Health Board, in this case, the South-Eastern Health Board. Accordingly, my Department has referred the matter to him and asked that he reply directly to the Deputy.
