Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

139 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if persons in receipt of part-British pension receive a Christmas bonus from the British authorities; and if not, if payments of a Christmas bonus will be made to persons on the full rate pension. [30322/01]

My Department understands that persons in receipt of a British retirement pension will receive a Christmas bonus from the British authorities during the first week of December. The Christmas bonus payable by my Department will also be paid during the week commencing Monday, 3 December. Nearly 1.2 million people, comprising 780,000 recipients and their 400,000 dependants, will benefit from this bonus at an estimated cost of £79.1 million, 100.44 million.
