Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Property.

Jack Wall

Question:

69 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the position of the proposed sale of his Departments land at Gormanston, County Meath; if the land has been offered for tender; if tenders have been received; and when a decision will be reached in this regard. [30397/01]

As I indicated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 166 on 21 November 2001, I have decided to dispose of some land at Gormanston Camp, County Meath, to fund equipment purchases for the Defence Forces. The precise area to be put on the market has yet to be finally determined but the military camp of 57 acres approximately will be retained. The modalities and timing of the sale are at present under consideration.
