Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

78 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) has not received payment for a tuberculosis reactor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30280/01]

The appropriate TB reactor grant issued to the person concerned on 30 October 2001.

Michael Ring

Question:

79 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agri Food and Rural Development Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a suckler cow payment. [30281/01]

Under the 2001 suckler cow premium schemes, applicants were required to submit cattle identity cards-passports for the animals on which they were applying for premium. During the 2001 scheme year, my Department operated a green card exchange programme whereby the old style cattle identity cards submitted with the applications were then forwarded to the South-Western Services Co-operative Society Limited – SWS – where they were replaced by the new style animal passports.

The breed of one of the animals for which a cattle identity card was forwarded on behalf of the person named had originally been recorded as a Friesian cow and, while the cattle identity card had been subsequently amended to reflect the beef breed of the cow, the new passport reflected the original, Friesian, breed. Therefore, when the 2001 suckler cow premium application submitted by the person named was cross-checked against my Department's cattle movement monitoring system, the animal was identified as being of non-beef breed and thus not eligible for suckler cow premium. The person named was advised by my Department to have the animal passport amended to reflect the beef breed. As this passport has now been amended, payment is expected to issue to the person named within the next 14 days.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

80 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will receive a suckler cow payment for 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30282/01]

The person named applied on six cows under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme for non-suppliers of milk. However, the records show that he holds a milk quota. He was advised by my Department to obtain a certificate from his co-operative to confirm that he is not a supplier of milk. This certificate has now been provided and his application under the scheme will be processed for payment. The 80% advance will issue to him within the next 14 days.
