327 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the position regarding the proposed development plans for Kilkerrin Harbour, Connemara, County Galway; if funding has been provided for this project; and when work will commence. [30454/01]
My Department has identified Kilkerrin Pier as one of the strategic Gaeltacht piers which it is hoped will be developed during the duration of the National Development Plan 2000-2006. In this context Galway County Council appointed consultants to undertake a feasibility study on this pier. This study will be totally funded by my Department. Once the consultants' report has been finalised the question of the provision of funding for the development of the pier will be considered further.
