421 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review an application made by persons (details supplied) in Dublin 10 for permanency within the VEC sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30811/01]
A committee, under an independent chairperson and including representatives of school management and the teacher union concerned and my Department, was established under the PCW agreement on the pay and conditions of teachers, to determine the suitability of qualifications for the purposes of appointment to permanent posts in the area of post leaving certificate courses.
Each of the cases referred to by the Deputy was examined by this committee. In both cases the committee decided that the qualifications submitted did not satisfy the agreed criteria for permanent appointment. Details of a further qualification held by one of the persons concerned have been submitted and this case is under review by the committee.
