82 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Defence the number of the 520 successful applicants who enlisted in the Permanent Defence Forces in the period 14 March to 30 September 2001 which are still serving; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30591/01]
The military authorities have advised that 397 of the recruits who enlisted during the period 14 March to 30 September 2001 are still serving.
The Government's policy of continuous ongoing recruitment is being maintained and a further 96 recruits were enlisted during October 2001.
