Vol. 546 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fish Farming.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

67 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources his proposals to meet the concerns of the IFA fish farming section (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31181/01]

I met the IFA fish farming section on Tuesday, 4 December to discuss, inter alia, its concerns regarding funding available to BIM in 2002.

An additional, 7 million has been provided to BIM in the budget to take forward essential programmes in support of the seafood industry. This will bring total investment in sea fisheries development to over 37 million in 2002 and will enable BIM to continue its valuable work in support of the seafood industry as a whole.
