Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Phil Hogan

Question:

134 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when various premia payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31559/01]

The person named will be paid the 80% advance entitlement under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme next week. The balance will be paid in early 2002.

To be eligible for the 2001 disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance an applicant must occupy and farm a minimum of three hectares of forage land in a disadvantaged area. According to the 2001 area aid application submitted by the person named 2.38 hectares of his holding of 14.18 hectares is in a disadvantaged area. As he does not meet the minimum requirement no disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance payment can be made for 2001 to the person named.
The person named has to date submitted applications in January, July and October under the 2001 special beef premium scheme. A query on the 2001 area aid declaration has now been resolved and payment of the 80% advance of special beef premium will now issue this week in respect of the January and July applications.
Payment on the October application will be made in January 2002 when the retention period is complete and the terms and conditions of the scheme have been met. Payment in respect of the slaughter premium scheme 2001 issued to the person named on the 16 October in relation to animals found eligible for the period January to June.

Michael Ring

Question:

135 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an area based payment and suckler cow payment for 2001. [31560/01]

The 2001 area aid application for the person named has been fully processed. Payment due under the 2001 area based compensatory allowance scheme and the 80% advance entitlement due under the 2001 suckler cow and special beef premium schemes will issue shortly.

Michael Ring

Question:

136 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Galway will receive a REP scheme payment. [31648/01]

My Department wrote to the person named on 3 October with a query that related to the area he had declared for REPS in his agri-environmental plan as against the area he had declared for area aid. A satisfactory reply was received on 18 October and his application is now being processed in accordance with the payment targets in the protocol on direct payments to farmers.
