Vol. 546 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Cultural Institutions.

Ivor Callely

Question:

113 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the personnel numbers employed in the National Archives; the number of personnel required to ensure adequate staffing numbers; the number of additional staff recruited recently; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [31743/01]

I refer the Deputy to my previous replies on this matter, No. 47 of 21 February 2001, No. 69 of 29 May 2001, No. 37 of 5 July and No. 144 of November 2001.

As the Deputy is aware, a substantial number of additional posts has recently been approved for the National Archives. The present position is that the total number of sanctioned posts in the National Archives is 42, with seven vacancies to be filled. Efforts to recruit staff to fill these vacancies are continuing.
