Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Liz McManus

Question:

145 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that the requisite funds as earmarked in the National Development Plan 2000-2006 for the development of Ennis General Hospital are made available to serve adequately the acute medical and surgical needs of the people of Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32181/01]

Health boards and the ERHA were asked to develop plans under the national development plan in line with funding levels indicated to them by my Department at the commencement of the NDP. These plans are expected to evolve over the period of the plan in line with prevailing service, financial and operational circumstances. The prioritisation and delivery of individual capital projects is primarily a matter for the relevant health board. In the case of Ennis General Hospital it is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to address the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.

Question No. 146 answered with Question No. 138.
