Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Care Services.

Richard Bruton

Question:

172 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has a policy on the physical conditions of the health board centres used for dispensation of community welfare services and other community care elements; if he has satisfied himself with the standards maintained; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32282/01]

The provision of health centres to meet the needs of local communities in respect of community welfare and other community services and the maintenance and upgrading of such centres within its functional area is a matter for the relevant health board or the Eastern Regional Health Authority.

Each of the health boards and the Eastern Regional Health Authority has been notified of the annual indicative funding available under the national development plan, NDP, for the period 2001 to 2006 to facilitate the financing of capital projects, including upgrading health centres. The identification and prioritisation of projects which may proceed within the indicative funding is a matter for the relevant health board or the authority.
