Question:

565 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the investigation which has been undertaken by the South-Eastern Health Board regarding the accident which caused the death of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; the contact which has been made with the family by the South-Eastern Health Board as part of the investigation; the whereabouts of the buggy which was supplied by the South-Eastern Health Board; if this buggy was inspected by officials of the South-Eastern Health Board or representatives of the manufacturer since the accident to determine if it was defective; if the buggy was examined before it was issued by the South-Eastern Health Board for use; the body which certified its safety; and if the report on the matter will be made public. [1829/02]

Phil Hogan

Question:

653 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a report in respect of the accidental death of a person (details supplied) arising from a buggy supplied by the South-Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2347/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 565 and 653 together.

The South-Eastern Health Board is currently investigating the matter. When the investigation is complete it is envisaged that the report will be reviewed by an independent consultant. Copies of the Deputies' questions have been referred to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board with a request that he reply directly to the Deputies on the matter.
