Michael Ring

Question:

650 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps which can be taken to tackle a foul odour which is affecting people's health in Westport, County Mayo. [2344/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 649 and 650 together.

I am advised that there is legislation in place on atmospheric pollutants which provides for dealing with odours injurious to public health. The Environmental Protection Agency and the local authorities are the enforcing agencies.
