Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Tony Gregory

Question:

1038 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the purpose for which a grant of £550,000 was sought by an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 9; if this work has been carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1181/02]

The allocation of £550,000 in grant aid to the club to which the Deputy refers consists of two separate grants under the sports capital programme, which is administered by my Department. The club applied for a grant under the 1999 programme for the construction of a new stand at Tolka Park and it was allocated £300,000 towards this project. The grant has been paid in full towards this work.

Under the 2000 programme, the club applied for a grant for upgrading of floodlighting to UEFA approved standards and also a grant to complete fittings and furnishings of the new stand at Tolka Park. A grant of £250,000 – 317,435 – was awarded for the floodlighting element of that application only. This grant has also been paid.
