Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

99 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate the case of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if the application will be expedited. [2985/02]

As I have previously informed the Deputy, the provision of the disabled persons grant to enable housing modifications to be made to the homes of disabled persons is entirely a matter for the Department of the Environment and Local Government and such grants are administered through the relevant local authority. Use of health board staff, occupational therapists, to provide assessments for this scheme is a matter for discussion between the relevant local authorities and health boards. A copy of the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board for his attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
