Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Creed. I call on Deputy Creed to state the matter.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent and important matter, namely, the decision by the ASTI to withdraw from supervision and substitution duties as and from 4 March next; the consequent threat posed to the day-to-day operation of post-primary schools; the need for the Minister for Education and Science to unveil his contingency plans to ensure the continued operation of all secondary schools; and the need for the Minister to further negotiate with the teacher unions on this matter.
Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
