Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House that the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 were received by the Ceann Comhairle and following is a list of the names of the Members in each case: (1) Deputy Connaughton – the problem of overcrowding at Cahergal national school, Tuam, County Galway, and the need to sanction the provision of a new school on a greenfield site which is available; (2) Deputy Clune – the need for funds to be provided to Cork City Council to enable commencement of the St. Patrick's Street renewal programme; (3) Deputy Ring – the need to introduce the three point plan as proposed by the Netsmen Association, to reduce pressure on salmon stocks; (4) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the four year delay in transferring a site required for the construction of sheltered housing at Dromevane, County Kerry, from the Department of Education and Science to Kerry County Council; (5) Deputy Healy – the need to appoint a design team for the building of an extension for Ballyclerihan national school; (6) Deputy Rabbitte – the crisis posed for companies, especially SMEs, of the escalating cost of insurance and the Government's inadequate response to this crisis; (7) Deputy Fitzgerald – the very serious flooding in Ringsend and Irishtown and the need for the Government to introduce a package of measures to help those whose homes and property have been destroyed and to take steps to prevent a recurrence, to introduce a proper river management plan and to examine how a properly co-ordinated local emergency plan can be activated when necessary; (8) Deputy Gormley – to ask the Minister his intention, if any, to investigate the very serious flooding in Dublin, particularly in the Irishtown-Ringsend area where there has been such destruction to the property of people in that area; and if he will introduce a Government compensation and aid package for the flood victims, assess the effectiveness of the emergency plan and take all necessary steps to ensure that there will be no further flooding of the area; (9) Deputy Gregory – to provide a special emergency fund to compensate uninsured flood victims arising from the floods in central Dublin on Friday, 1 February; to ensure that Dublin City Council has all necessary resources to respond fully to people's needs in the aftermath of the flood and that the resources available to the emergency services and their ability to cope with such disasters be reviewed in light of last weekend's experience; (10) Deputy Kenny – the need to clarify guidelines operated by the Department of Health and Children for eligibility for children's orthodontic treatment; (11) Deputies McGrath and Penrose – the delays within the Department of Education and Science in giving approval for a school extension or renovation at St. Mary's CBS, Mullingar, County Westmeath; and (12) Deputy Creed – the need to renegotiate with post-primary teacher unions regarding payment for supervision and substitution.

The matters raised by Deputies Healy, McGrath and Penrose, Creed and Kenny have been selected for discussion.
