I propose to take Questions Nos. 179 and 184 together.

As Minister, I have no direct function in relation to the selection process of Garda Síochána trainees. Recruitment into the Garda Síochána is by way of open competition conducted by the Office of the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissioners. If the applicant wishes to clarify his position, he should contact that office.
