Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

121 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if payment will be approved in respect of the 22 month beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [3871/02]

The person named submitted seven applications under the 2001 special beef premium scheme, four in January 2001, one in March and two in December. The 80% advance payment issued in respect of the first five applications for 122 animals on 24 and 31 October 2001. Two applications were received in December for 31 and 39 animals respectively. Payments on December applications will commence in March 2002 when the two month retention period has been completed.

Michael Ring

Question:

122 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive an area based payment. [3872/02]

The person named submitted his area aid application after the 27 April 2001 closing date. Late applications incurring daily penalties were accepted up to 22 May 2001. As the application form for the person named was not received until 18 September 2001, a 100% penalty was applied in accordance with the EU Regulations. Consequently no disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme payment can be made for 2001.
