Vol. 548 No. 4

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

166 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide the necessary funds to Kerry County Council to complete the roundabout at the junction of the John B. Keane Road and the N69 road at Cahirdown, Listowel, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5119/02]

Since 1998, a total of €1,320,541 in EU co-financed specific improvements grants has been provided to Listowel Town Council for the Listowel inner relief road, a section of which is otherwise known as the John B. Keane Road.

The 2002 allocation of €232,500 to Listowel Town Council includes an allocation of €63,500 towards the completion of the Listowel inner relief road with the construction of a roundabout at its junction with the national secondary route N69.

I understand the National Roads Authority will be funding the balance of the cost. Details of the 2002 national road grant allocations will be announced by the National Roads Authority in the near future.
