Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Academy for the Performing Arts.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

496 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education and Science when it is intended to establish a board of directors for the new Irish academy for the performing arts; and if a decision has been made on where the academy will be located. [5914/02]

I am currently finalising the membership of the governing authority and will announce it shortly. In accordance with the Government decision, the academy will be formed on a nodal basis, incorporating: a headquarters and state of the art facilities for the performing arts on a site on the Dublin City University campus; a Limerick campus developing the existing Irish World Music Centre at the University of Limerick; and an undergraduate professional dance facility based at the Firkin Crane Dance Development Agency in Cork.
