257 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children the health projects, whether included in the national development plan, which are to be developed under the public private partnership system; the criteria which apply in each such case; the estimated amounts expected to be raised under the scheme in 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As announced in the recent health strategy document, Quality and Fairness, public private partnerships, PPPs will be used to help in the development of health infrastructure. The aim will be to achieve value for money, quality services, and accelerated infrastructure delivery. It is likely that the first health PPP initiatives will be in the area of non-acute services, and my Department is currently examining a number of possibilities in this regard.
