Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Tony Gregory

Question:

455 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science his views on the request of St. Columba's school and Day Care Centre for Travellers, Dublin 1, to be re-categorised as a special school and for the provision of additional services (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6818/02]

The school referred to by the Deputy is recognised as a special school for Travellers. I have asked my Department's inspectorate to consider the educational issues raised in the details supplied. My officials will be in contact with the school management as soon as this has been completed. Some of the matters raised are appropriate to my colleague, the Minister for Health and Children and I have made arrangements to have details forwarded to his Department for attention.
