The person named has submitted five applications in respect of 21 animals for the 2001 special beef premium scheme. Advance payment of €2,067.20 in respect of 19 animals has issued in relation to the first four applications. The remaining two animals applied for in the December application will be eligible for payment in March 2002 when the retention period is completed and provided the terms and conditions of the scheme have been met. The person named was paid 80% advance payment on slaughter premium on eligible animals slaughtered during the period 1 January 2001 to 30 September 2001. Slaughter premium on any eligible animals slaughtered-exported in the October to December period will be paid in early March. The person named applied for premium for four animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. He has been paid his full entitlement under this scheme.

The person named has already been paid an 80% advance under the slaughter premium 2001 scheme on 118 animals at a rate of €42.40 per animal giving a total payment to date of €5,003.20. Payment on a further 62 animals at a rate of €42.40 will issue in early March.

Liam Aylward

Question:

141 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the progress to date regarding an application for grant aid under the capital investment scheme by persons (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [6951/02]

The application in question is one of a substantial number received by my Department under the capital investment scheme for the marketing and processing of certain agricultural products. Earlier this week Minister of State, Deputy Davern, announced the first tranche of awards under the scheme totalling €6.2 million. Further awards of grant aid under the scheme will be approved in the near future and this application will be considered in that context.
