Vol. 550 No. 1

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gregory – the request of the family of the late Dean Lyons, who was wrongly charged with murder, that the tribunal of inquiry into the garda handling of the McBrearty case be extended to include the case of Mr. Lyons; (2) Deputy Seán Ryan – the need to refurbish the existing schools and to construct permanent classrooms at St. Cronan's junior and senior national schools, Brackenstown, Swords, County Dublin; (3) Deputy Dukes – the question of delays in payments to farmers whose sheep flocks have been culled in the context of anti-scrapie measures; (4) Deputy Rabbitte – the reason the Minister for Education and Science is withholding permission to go to tender for a necessary school's refurbishment project in Dublin 24, given that the regional local contribution has been met, plans agreed and professional fees discharged and (5) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the implications for employment in Killarney, County Kerry of the decision of Alps Electrical Ireland to move 300 jobs out of the area and the need for urgent measures to provide replacement employment.

The matters raised by Deputies Moynihan-Cronin, Ryan, Dukes and Gregory have been selected for discussion.
