Vol. 551 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

133 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a suckler cow grant payment has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10442/02]

The person named applied for premium on 12 cows under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. An inspection was carried out on his herd on 6 December 2001. The herdowner was issued with a formal notification on 6 February 2002 informing him that as a result of findings regarding the registration of one animal a 4.54% penalty was to be applied due to non-compliance under the identification and registration of bovine animals requirements. The herdowner was also informed that he could appeal this decision by writing to my Department with any new facts or fresh evidence to support his claim. As no such correspondence has been received to date the application will now be processed further and a reduced payment will issue as soon as possible.

John Perry

Payment will issue to the person named within the next fourteen days.
