Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers.

Richard Bruton

Question:

249 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he will review the condition that requires 10% of the pre-tax price of a car to be spent on adaptation to qualify for the concessions for disabled drivers given that this is an inflexible condition which fails to take into account the actual requirements of disabled persons and creates a captive market for adaptations contrary to consumer interests. [11514/02]

An interdepartmental group chaired by an official from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform is reviewing the disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' (tax concessions) scheme. I understand that the group is examining all aspects of the scheme.
