Written Answers. - Food Quality Standards.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

11 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if butter and cream produced here before the removal of carbosan copper from cattle rations has been tested for dioxin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11896/02]

Samples of butter and cream produced before the removal of carbosan copper from cattle rations have been taken for analysis for dioxin levels. Butter was sampled by my Department and cream was sampled by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The results of the tests are expected in the first week in May.
