Vol. 552 No. 3

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Service.

John Perry

Question:

111 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the children of St. Cecilia's Special School, Sligo, are denied an appropriate primary education due to a lack of speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and ongoing assessment and review; the steps he has taken to redress this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12304/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health related support services, including speech and language and occupational therapy services, to children with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Sligo region rests with the North-Western Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
